What does vitality mean?

Now that I’ve recovered from my fantastic food binge in London my thoughts are focused on vitality. Firstly I needed to figure out what vitality means to me. I started with looking the term up in a couple of online dictionaries and found three definitions:

Vitality |vʌɪˈtalɪti|

  1. Exuberant physical strength or mental vigor
  2. The state of being strong and active
  3. The property of being able to survive and grow

The meaning of the word vigor (and vigorous) intrigued me so I looked them up:

Vigor |ˈvɪɡ·ər|

  1. Active strength or force
  2. Healthy physical or mental energy or power

Vigorous |ˈvɪɡ(ə)rəs|

  1. Strong, healthy and full of energy

And also exhuberant:

Exuberant |ɛɡˈz(j)uːb(ə)r(ə)nt|

  1. Full of energy, excitement, and cheerfulness

I think these definitions capture the essence of what I want to achieve. There is an understanding that it is about both the physical and the mental state. Also touching on not just strength but health, active energy, cheerfulness and growth. So what have I been doing so far to strengthen my physical body and pursuing a vigorous mental state? My next post will go into all the details 🙂
